Voici l'histoire derrière cette photo :
Chaque année, en novembre, les touristes affluent à Churchill, au Manitoba, pour voir les ours polaires. Une fois la baie gelée, les ours peuvent enfin s'aventurer sur la glace et profiter d'un buffet de phoques bien mérité. Au même moment, à 60 kilomètres au sud de Churchill, dans le parc national de Wapusk, des ourses polaires femelles donnent naissance à un à trois oursons pas plus gros qu'une plaquette de beurre d'une livre. En février et mars, ces petites boules de poils ont la taille d'un petit chien. Jusqu'à ce moment-là, ils vivent dans une tanière à environ deux à trois mètres sous la surface de la neige. Lorsqu'ils sont prêts, la mère passe la tête par le haut du terrier et les bébés découvrent le monde pour la première fois. Les photographes comme moi attendent à 100 mètres de distance, dans l'espoir d'assister à ce spectacle étonnant. Parfois, nous attendons huit heures par jour pendant des jours en fixant un trou dans la neige, en vain. Ces jours-là, les températures de -40 C à -50 C sont très difficiles. Lorsque nous voyons les mamans et les bébés ours polaires, ils nous réchauffent le cœur et nous ne remarquons presque pas le froid. Nous devons cependant être très prudents, car les températures de -50 C peuvent brûler la peau exposée en quelques secondes et provoquer des gelures en quelques minutes seulement.

Ready-to-hang options
The canvases are mounted on a sturdy wooden support, with a Nordic pine frame. We install a wire at the back and add a small kit of nails and hooks to facilitate installation.
About the artist
Born near a zoo, I have been observing animal behavior since my early childhood. The poses and attitudes of hundreds of animals are therefore imprinted in my memory. To complete my inspirations, I create collages of animal photographs and I collaborate with Canadian photographers who share their pictures with me. My work then becomes the sum of their time spent behind the camera, rain or shine, plus my hours interpreting the beauty of nature.
